Imagine these tools running constantly on a phone or eyewear. How can this helpful and not annoying?

After watching the video above we are starting to see a potential in AR and AI technology where it can have it identify objects and music in real-world time. This technology isn’t the best right now however it does have a lot of potential in the future.
This has been the topic of controversy in China but this can be either very useful when trying to find criminals and people of the interest or can be viewed as an invasion of privacy. So, if a person that has done a criminal act is walking around in public and they have the person’s face, they can use this AR technology in order to find out where they are. This can also be applied to voices as well. If you had a burglar wearing a mask, you wouldn’t be able to identify them based on their face. They can use to try to identify who that person is just based on their voice alone.
This being said, it can be used as a means of security. Security cameras mostly start recording when they detect movement. If the camera is placed outside then it will record everything that literally moves. Using this technology means that it can because used to see what objects the camera saw and be able to make a list. Within that list, the user can choose what target they would want to see instead of having to go through hundreds of hours of footage.
Using this technology can also be useful in the work industry. A person can walk into a warehouse look around to see what they need. The glasses can be used to see what items are in the warehouse. If the worker sees that they are running low on anything, they can look at the object, ID it, and order more on the spot. It can also be useful for places like the repair shop, The AR feature can identify all the components a mechanism might have. If a component is missing, the user would be able to see what is missing or is broken and see what that target is and possible models or part number it is. If a car is making an odd noise, the sound identifier can be used to see what the problem might be.

One annoying thing about this technology is that is how it cant detect animals of different species. In the screenshot above from the video, it showed a bird and it couldn’t identify if it was a person or a dog. So on this topic, I think it would be best to fix this by being able to identify more objects and can be a little more accurate with what it can find in the real world. This being said, it will be better if it had a wider database when it comes to what it can recognize. This would mean that it will have a lot of little squares floating around the user’s point of view. Adding a filter to this tech will help with this issue. This can include limiting how many object the AR can spot during real-time, what objects can and can not be trying to recognize and a “look for only this” feature to only looking for that target. Another way around this issue is to have a button on the side. When the glasses finds a target, it can use a little icon over the person instead of a large box. Then, when the user want to see what that target is, they can use the button to go through the targets one by one until the user finds the object they are looking at and it will display the information about it on the side of the UI.
Another thing that I would change is how it identifies objects. In the video it showed when it found a certain target, it would have a color-coded box. Because of the objects that it’s identifying it always moving, it could constantly flash the boxes on and off can be distracting to a user that is wear glasses that has this AR technology. If there is a lot if shape with different colors constantly flashing at the user’s eye, it can cause serious issues like seizures.
After these issues have been fixed, this tech will be a lot more user-friendly and less annoying as well.
