Hi, I’m Courage Mahuvava, and I’m excited to share my professional journey with you.
I am a Medical Physicist and Lecturer at The University of the West Indies (UWI), St. Augustine, with over four years of experience teaching at the tertiary level. I deliver postgraduate courses in Biomedical Physics, with a focus on diagnostic imaging and radiotherapy physics, and also contribute to undergraduate teaching in bioengineering and metrology. I am also the Coordinator of the Biomedical Technology (BMET) program at UWI.
Many people often ask, "What do medical physicists do?" We are responsible for ensuring the safe, accurate, and effective use of radiation in healthcare—such as in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
Beyond teaching, I am passionate about research that advances the field of medical physics. My journey began in South Africa, where I pursued undergraduate studies in Computational Physics. I now apply this foundation to conduct low-cost computational dosimetry research that supports more accessible and efficient radiotherapy treatment planning.
I invite you to explore my Teaching Philosophy for deeper insight into my approach to education. I hope you find my ePortfolio both informative and inspiring.
Feel free to reach out with any questions. Feel free to connect with me on my social media platforms.
Thank you for visiting!
