Margaret is a Waikato-born kiwi gal who didn't know whether to aim for the sticks in the wilderness of the S.I or to enter the mystical cave of theatre. She ended up kinda doing both, traipsing to the London International School of Performance Art for two years everyday in gumboots. Abroad for 15 years, she studied dance, physical theatre, improvisation, nutrition, Feldenkrais, Alexander Technique, performance and animal movement. Learning from some of the most incredible teachers of the time, as well as working alongside wonderfully talented artists, her horizon blasted wide open to the vast, indescribable landscapes of the body, breath and voice.
On her return to NZ in 2020, Margaret discovered ConTact C.A.R.E and immediately engaged with the practice and began learning. Her training abroad fed directly into this work and gave her the foundations on which to spring from. It just made sense.
She now practises from home and loves working with the nature of each client, welcoming the challenges and new learnings that present themselves with each new set of footprints, or hoof-prints.
She continues her movement practise, predominantly in the martial arts, as well as collaborating and performing with a great bunch of artists scattered throughout NZ. She regularly holds workshops in the near vicinity as well as the Tasman District and is devoted to her family, partner and the soil from where her feet came from.
