This can be done through a presentation, girls doing their own research, or just by discussion with girls. Discuss the different types of clay, the benefits, and disadvantages of each type, and what they can be used for.
This activity requires air-dry clay and a mirror. Think of the design you would like on your mirror. Create shapes with your air-dry clay and place them along the mirror to create your desired design. Let the clay dry. If you use white clay, you can then go and paint the clay.
Using either air-dry or oven-bake clay, create an animal of your choosing. Follow the instructions for setting the clay. If it’s airdry, let it dry; if it’s oven bake, set your oven to the required temperature and bake.
This is a good activity to incorporate with jewelry making. This requires either air-dry or oven-bake clay (oven-bake is recommended for more durable results) and eye pins. Create the charm you would like and then place an eye pin into the clay. Follow the instructions on your clay packaging on how to dry it. You can keep this how it is or put it on a charm bracelet.
