Ask girls what their favorite costume they have ever seen is. Have them describe or draw it on a piece of paper.
Create a presentation, or if the girls are older, ask them to research costumes. What’s the history behind them? What are they used for? The stories costumes can tell.
Make flashcards with costumes on them. Ask the girls what they believe about why these costumes are being worn and what story they are trying to tell. If the girls are younger, you can incorporate this into the sideshow from the first activity.
Have girls fill out the Costume Planning Paper and discuss why they want to make this costume. If girls have access to electronics, suggest they make a board of inspiration.
Optional: Have girls bring in clothes that the family no longer wants and have girls search through those to use in their costumes. Donate remaining clothing after patch.
