The sand and the wax together with the oil and gas coming from the production wells settle inside of the production separators impacting their separation potential.
The classical ATC unit was designed to clean tanks mainly for drilling applications but the production side of the activity poses a new challenge because of the different nature of the solids deposited inside the separators.
Adapting the ATC for production vessels was a concept ConstantinConsulting successfully designed and implemented.
The challenge was to remove the sand deposits from the production separators with no men entry.
In some cases, the level of sediments deposits exceeded the upper part of the manhole.
This is an example of the solids deposited into another separator.
Removing the sand only with the standard ATC technology was not possible and using the VAC technology would require men's entry.
The winning solution proposed and implemented by ConstantinConsulting was a combination of both ATC and VAC.
A special ATC/VAC interface designed and fabricated by ConstantinConsulting sorted out successfully the problem.
The vacuum pumps, located slightly below the separator, took extra advantage of the gravity force.
The ATC unit located one level below easily handled the jetting water while the ConstantinConsulting's interface kept efficiently the solids deposited away into the cuttings skips.
Gradually, the solids were removed from the exterior of the separator with no need for men to enter it.
Manholes located at each end of the separator facilitated easier access.
A simple but very efficient holding system allowed the TCM to be installed on the men's entry hatch flange in almost no time.
The efficiency of the jets was obvious.
Sometimes, only one jet passage was enough to clean the separator's walls.
The final product was a 15 metes long separator with all the sand and wax removed and ready to perform at its maximum capabilities.
With an intimate understanding of these technologies and applying innovative solutions, ConstantinConsulting demonstrated the efficiency of a unique system designed to eliminate the confined space entry risks while dramatically reducing downtime for the production platforms.
The short video presentation below shows as well how this project was successfully implemented by ConstantinConsulting:
