Before beginning Lumens training you must have completed the basic training for one of the roles listed here:
Ambulatory Medicine basic training and associated EUPA
Inpatient Medicine basic training and pass the associated EUPA
Pediatric Medicine basic training and passthe associated EUPA
Surgery basic training and pass the associated EUPA
Scroll down this page for information that you will use to complete the following actions:
1.Complete Basic Training by:
Registering for and attending an instructor led session
or
Completing independent learning online
2. Pass the appropriate Assessment to get Access to Connect Care:
Access is granted overnight after you pass the appropriate End User Proficiency Assessment (EUPA)
Use the information below to self-register via MyLearningLink for an instructor led basic training. Training session is delivered virtually via Zoom.
Navigate to MyLearningLink and login with your AHS username and password
Click on Required Courses, click on the ‘Role: Physician CMIO Lumens’
Click on Basic Training, Lumens ILT (instructor led training), find a day and time that suits your schedule. Click on the Register button.
Verify the course you selected is displayed on the My Courses tab
If you are not able to see the course under required courses, please click on Courses and Registrations menu found on the left side of the screen, search using the term 'cmio lumens', click on the blue bar towards the bottom of the page that is titled Epic - CMIO Lumens ILT, scroll down, select the date and time and click the green button to register for the course
Once registered, you will receive an important email with the Zoom link and instructions on how to prepare for your virtual training session.
If you are unable to attend one of the scheduled sessions you can complete your basic training independently online.
The basic training course is delivered as a series of video modules that cover the same topics as the instructor led training. You can complete this training at your convenience.
The course you need to complete on MyLearningLink is titled:
Epic - CMIO Lumens - Independent Learning
This course should be listed in the Required Courses section when you login to MyLearningLink
If it is not shown in Required Courses search for it using the course search function by clicking Courses & Registration on the left side of the main MyLearningLink page.
Navigate to https://myapps.albertahealthservices.ca
Open the Connect Care folder, then the Training folder, launch ACE5 or PLY
Login as GIMD## (where ## is any number from 01 to 19)
Password: train
Before gaining access to Connect Care, all trainees must complete a short competency assessment, the End User Proficiency Assessment (EUPA). This is done after basic (in-person) training.
The EUPA can be found in MyLearningLink, listed with Required Courses
Complete the EUPA titled Epic - CMIO Lumens EUPA
Access will be automatically granted (usually overnight) once you have passed the EUPA and completed On Our Best Behaviours privacy training
When completing your EUPA it is recommended that you login to the ACE Connect Care training environment.
Access to the live patient care version of Connect Care is enabled overnight by automated systems after passing the EUPA and completing the mandatory AHS privacy training. Please allow time between completing your training and your first shift to ensure your access is in place.
Everyone at AHS has to complete the mandatory Annual Continuing Education (ACE) Privacy and Information Security training module on MyLearningLink: InfoCare – On Our Best Behaviors. Your access to Connect Care will not be enabled without completing this course.

Look in “My Courses” or search by title and register to complete it.

For further exploration and practice, you can access the PLY environment for post-training practice. You will find PLY in your Connect Care training folder.
Use the login credentials outlined below. Your username will be letters specific to your track, followed by a two-digit number (e.g., IP15), you can choose any number from 01 to 19 (note: ## indicates where the two-digit number between 01 and 19 goes, your username will not have a pound sign).
The PLY environment refreshes every 24 hours at 12 a.m. If it looks like someone has already interacted with a patient, feel free to use any other user login ID number from 01 to 19.
