Students:
- arrange positive whole numbers of any size in ascending and descending order.
- recognise the location of negative whole numbers in relation to zero and place them on a number line
- use the term 'integers' to describe positive and negative whole numbers and zero

Focus on POSITIVE numbers:
- apply the associative, commutative and distributive laws to aid mental and written computation
- use factors of a number to aid mental computation involving multiplication and division
- apply the order of operations to mentally evaluate expressions involving integers, including where an operator is contained within the numerator or denominator of a fraction,

Expand the focus including NEGATIVE numbers:
- be reintroduced to positive and negative integers using the number line.
- be introduced to new terminologies related to integer (e.g. direction and magnitude).
- use the symbols < and > to describe the relationship of integers and then ordering them.
- carry out the four operations (adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing) with rational numbers and integers, using efficient mental and written strategies and appropriate digital technologies
