- Today I will figure out the rule for addition of integers with and without the same sign
- So that I can do the addition positive integers, negative integers, one positive and one negative integer

Students work in pairs:
- using the kit to represent the operation then find the total
- recognise the sign of the totals for each case of addition
- figure the addition rules when for each case of addition
- discuss and note down the rule in their note books
Teacher :
- hang out the kit of positive and negative signs
- explain the rule of using the kit
one + sign = 1 i.e. ++ =2
one - sign = -1 i.e. -- = -2
+ - = 0
- show some examples using the kit to find the answer
- allow time for students to work with their partner using the kit to find the answer.
- help them to recognise the sign of the total when doing the addition of 2 positive integers, 2 negative integers, a negative and a positive integer

- teacher moves around and check student`working

- students will use laptops or computers in the computer room to access to the Maths game where they have to click on the addition expression on the fruit that matches the number line.
- students can attempt in different modes (timing or without timing) and speed to check how quickly and correctly response they are.
Challenge: students can take the kit with them home and attempt to figure out the rules for subtraction of integers with and without the same sign
