Johannes Sarapuu

Johannes Peeter Sarapuu (1992) began his cello studies at the age of six in the music school of Old Town Educational College with Aare Tammesalu. In 2012 he was enrolled in Universität der Künste Berlin and in 2019 he obtained the master's degree there under Konstantin Heidrich. In addition, Johannes has studied with Wolfgang Böttcher, Hannu Kiiski and Henry-David Varema. He has participated in master classes given by Ivan Monighetti, Iagoba Fanlo, Jan-Erik Gustafsson and others. In 2015 he received the 3rd prize in the competition for Estonian string players and performed as a soloist with the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra.

Johannes Sarapuu is an active soloist, chamber musician and orchestra player. Since 2014 he has performed the music of Arvo Pärt with vocal ensemble Vox Clamantis in Estonia, Poland, Belgium, France and Japan. Since 2018 he has been working in Tallinn Chamber Orchestra. He also plays on a baroque cello as a soloist as well as in early music ensemble Corelli Consort.
