Marten Meibaum

Marten Meibaum (1998) took up the cello at the age of five in Nõmme Music School with Lembi Mets. Following the graduation from Tallinn Music High School in the cello class of Mart Laas in spring 2017, he enrolled at the Royal Northern College of Music as a student of Nicholas Jones.

Marten has received prizes in several competitions, among them the 1st prize in the competition for young instrumentalists organized by Estonian Union of Music Schools (2012, 2014), a finalist diploma and a special prize for performing the cello concerto by Eduard Tubin in a competiton for Estonian string players (2015). He has performed as a soloist with Tallinn Chamber Orchestra (2013, 2014), Estonian National Symphony Orchestra (2015) and RNCM Symphony Orchestra (2018).

Marten is a member of the Early Music Group of Kiili and a vocal-instrumental ensemble NB which he is the leader of.
