Hello Families!
We are finally experiencing some great weather! Our students and staff are so happy to be enjoying some beautiful days outside with the sun shining bright! Session 2 is coming to an end and we are gearing up to welcome Session 3 with a new prospect of clubs and favorite outside providers coming back. We are excited for the brighter and warmer days ahead!
Our PreK students got to experiment with STEM activities this month! They learned about chemical reactions using milk, soap, and food coloring! Another project they worked on was making fluffy paint out of shaving cream in order to make some very yummy looking ice cream cones. The 2nd theme our PreK learned about this month was how to make fun masks from characters in the books they read in class with Ms. Mandee! We had some awesome dinosaur masks running around outside! Our Prek students also experimented with density as they tried to mix oil, food coloring, and water to see what would happen.
Our 3rd-5th grade students are getting ready to jump into Session 3 Clubs! In Weird Science club, our students worked in 2 teams to build a structure out of marshmallows and toothpicks that would be sturdy enough to withstand a 30 second earthquake! There were some very impressive structures created. In DeiLab, they worked hard at building small cities and towns as they worked in teams. In Drawing Club, our students were able to choose what they would like to practice drawing for the last couple of weeks. Our students have also been enjoying the wonderful weather outside and being able to play soccer again with the K-2nd students!
Our K-2nd grade students are wrapping up their clubs! In Star Wars club, our students got to make Grogu, otherwise known as Baby Yoda! That was a project that everyone was very excited about! Our friends in Crafty Books worked on some awesome 3D pop up cards of cities in the snow! There was lots of inspiration from the outdoors for these cities. In Lego Challenge, our students worked on creating some well known characters and backgrounds from Super Mario Brothers! Weird Science club was busy making fossils using dough and salt so the students could create their own fossils.

Hello hawk families!
We can hear the birds chirping and the sun being out at dismissal is a sure sign that Spring is on its way. We can not believe how quickly this year is going by with only 14 weeks left till the end of the school year. As we finish session 2 and get ready to start our final session I want to say just how much the Healey staff appreciate all your patience and understanding this year and your help to help us make this a great year for your students.
To finish up session 2 our K-5th gators have been hard at work. This month in club 207 kids learned about several different strategies they can use while playing chess. The kids also continued to enjoy playing Uno, where the goal to defeat Mr.Henry lived on in master of games. In pearler beads, the kids focused on making different cat characters as well as making country flags. We saw some beautiful Brazilian flags and an awesome Portugal flag as well. In just dance kids are wrapping up dancing to songs from 2010-2020. Around the world had kids learning about Europe this month. Students focused on the different countries in Europe and the cultures that exist throughout the region. Students had a lot of opportunities for free choice in Imagination Playground this month and spent the majority of their time creating different houses and beds out of the blue blocks.
Our PreK friends have been having so much fun downstairs. We have continued to work with our letters working through X, Y and Z. We made x-ray pictures and xylophones. We got to enjoy another collaging activity, this time focusing only on the color yellow! We learned what a Yak is and got creative by making some baby yoda crafts. We can’t wait to make our very own zoo pictures and explore some more with our remaining letters of the alphabet. In Master of Games Club, students were able to play a wide variety of games such as Scrabble, Uno, and Boggle. They got the freedom to choose which game they wanted to play each week. The students learned how to win and lose with grace, and they made new friends along the way. Students were then able to use the skills they learned to help them with real life disagreements with friends while playing. It has been awesome to watch the students grow in their social skills through exposure to a variety of games.
Throughout the course of Karaoke Club, students got the ability to express themselves through music with their peers. Additionally, they learned how to appropriately collaborate and work together with their classmates to perform various types of songs. We saw students from not only 208, but our helpers from 207 working together to take on new and challenging song requests. We even got to hear our teachers sing! Master Chefs got to enjoy a delicious Strawberry and Spinach salad as well as learn all about why spinach is so good for us. Littel STEAMers challenged ourselves to a drawing puzzle. Students created their own pictures on small scale grids then cut them out and swapped pictures with another classmate. We then had to try and draw our new pictures square by square and guess what we drew. Some students found ways to help themselves while others enjoyed the slow guessing of what they were making.
In Film Critics Club, students were exposed to different genres of films, ranging from animated to real-life. We discussed why some films opt to use characters and a plot, while others are more informative and cater to a different type of audience.
As always, please continue to check your balances on EZchildtrack and a reminder that dismissal is between 5:10 and 5:30 each day. We can’t wait to share these next 14 weeks with our students and look forward to giving you more inside peaks are our after-school fun!

March brings our last few weeks of clubs for session two. It went by so quickly and we barely got to show you all of our clubs! The fun doesn’t stop. If you’re curious about the other clubs, ask a Brown School kiddo!
STEM/DOMINOS
One of our popular clubs. In this club, they build lots of cool domino structures. The kids use the whole room and work with a partner to create lines of dominos. Carefully placing the dominos standing up so they don’t fall on each other. Some kids even use a dollhouse to wrap the whole line. Be careful not to touch it or they’ll all fall down!
TRIVIA
This group knows a ton about nearly everything. In this club, the kiddos use paddles to write their answers down. They get a little competitive but it sure is fun to learn new things through trivia! Their favorite Trivia was about the lego movies! Which would make sense because these kiddos LOVE anything that has to do with legos. A lot of our clubs use building materials like legos.
METRO ROCK
Our 3rd-5th graders are old enough to participate in rock climbing. In this club they learn the basic knot tying for rock climbing. For 11 weeks they gain skills to pull themselve up all the way to the top. Its a lot of hard work and they always come back needing more snacks because the run out of energy. Who knew pulling your weight would tire you out!
SOMETHING ABOUT SCIENCE
Each week this group explores something about science. Sometimes we’re creating clay using flour and salt. The next we’re creating boats and putting pennies on it. The kids love getting messy and creative and there is always something about science that has a little bit of both!
LIT
Our 3rd-5th grade group are in their second session and actually creating clubs for 1st graders! Now that they’ve seen their teachers in action they are creating small group activities for younger kids. What is amazing about this is their passion to take it up. Kids love responsibility and taking ownership of their projects. They are watching and learning how to be amazing people by the amazing people around them. We have some strong Leaders for our future folks!

Spring has begun sprung here at ESCS. We are excited to welcome the changing season and the typical buzz of Spring has hit our halls. As spring arrives, it also brings with it the anticipation of longer days with more daylight and better weather for our outside sports and activities. It is a great transition time for our students who are now starting to display want, need, and desire to move into and start the next level of learning in session three with many different new clubs and enrichment activities prepared by afterschool teachers and staff.
Kindergarten students have already enjoyed making rainbows and gold. Students are focusing on the colors by using various materials and exploring their sensory skills by using different colored tissue paper to represent the different colors in the rainbow as well as making and exploring flowers that grow in the spring.
During club, we have been using our five senses for making things such as tortillas and cute faces out of different fruits and enjoying them afterwards! Students have also been doing many different science experiments using watercolors and paper. Students have enjoyed working in teams for creating gymnastic routines during gymnastics club. With the warmer weather, we have also been moving many of our activities outside as much as we can in order for us to enjoy the nice fresh air as we have been inside for the majority of winter. We are looking forward so much to the spring and the nice weather in the coming days.
Teachers have been having so much fun teaching and letting their own students teach their peers as well! As our teachers always, strive to provide students with the best opportunities to master their skills by supporting the learning needs of each student.
Our 1st graders have been helping each other out by reading and sharing books that they bring from home to their peers after finishing homework up. Additionally, our 2nd graders have begun to help each other with homework and read to each other. We love seeing our students help each other out with growing and fostering their own reading skills!
Our 3rd-5th grade students have been having lots of fun with their clubs. As always, Metro Rock has been a great hit and students are beginning to do their last major course before the end of the session. Strong Women Strong Girls is also back and running! Our students in SWSG have been building their character and gaining confidence while doing so. They love their mentors and everything they have learned from them.
As always, I want to thank you for your partnership in helping us prepare students for a larger stage of life.
Mr. Ray has also been having lots of fun with his clubs making comics and exploring ancient art from different cultures. They have also learned many teamwork and communication skills while learning about different games and how to play them. These clubs are all starting to wrap up as we are slowly transitioning into the last and final session of the year!

Room 108
Over the last month in Capuano room 108, the activities and themes have been a mix of Dr. Suess, Weather, Water and Irish Culture.
As a small tribute to Dr. Suess, we read One Fish Two Fish and made an aquarium. For Weather, we talked about different words for weather, different types of weather, kinds of clouds and made things like weather wheels and kites. To learn about Irish Culture, we read informational books about St. Patrick’s Day and Irish culture. We also read Irish tales such as Finn M’Coul and Jamie O’Rourke and the Pooka by Tomie DePaola. These are Irish folk tales about bullying and responsibility.
Aside from thematic material, we have been concentrating on building kindness and friendship into the classroom environment. To this end, we have talked about how to be a good friend and how to be kind to one another. We have read many books about kindness and friendship, many of these books by Rosemary Wells. We have also made available many coloring pages related to kind activities and what good friends do for each other.
After this week, we will shift our theme to Spring. We hope the weather cooperates.
Room 137
It has been absolutely amazing to enjoy such mixed New England weather. Our theme and focus for the month of March has been friendship and weather. The children are bonding with each other and learning how to be kind friends. The children have created postcards and water coloring pictures that reflect friendship, and we have taken short walks around our school and neighborhood. And of course, we’ve gone outside to play when weather permits. When we are in need of a cool down, we have been doing yoga and freeze dance to help with relaxation. The class has enjoyed this to the maximum. We are totally ready for spring.
Room 202
We started the month of March with many themed activities such as frogs, underwater creatures, and yes, even daylight savings time! With spring on the horizon, we also have started exploring spring themes. In addition to activities, we have read many books to go along with what we have been doing in the classroom.
During free play students have the opportunity to build and create different lego structures. While building, the children worked on practicing teamwork and problem solving.
Be on the lookout for the many crafts your children will be taking home such as: the rainbow fish, fish aquarium, the frog life cycle, and frog handprint craft!
We can not wait for all the sunshine spring will bring and all the time we will be spending outside!
Room 218
Room 218 has been enjoying coloring! Kindergarteners have explored coloring with various kinds of markers and crayons! We can definitely say coloring is room 218’s favorite pass time. In addition, we have established a great bond and friendships in 218. We like to consider ourselves as an afterschool family! The children continue to practice kindness towards one another and continue to earn kindness hearts. We are almost at 100 acts of kindness!
The children also have been working on being independent around the classroom and making their own choices. They are allowed to pick choice time toys and activities for the day.
Room 218 wishes everyone a happy month of March and look forward to the warm weather coming up!

Hi everyone! We are quickly making our way through March and it feels like the school year is going to be over before we know it! Which seems crazy to say given the year we all have had.
Session 3 is gearing up to be a fun one with new clubs and old favorites. But until we get there let’s wrap up all the fun we have had in our clubs during session 2.
Half Day Wednesdays and LEGO Time!
Half day Wednesdays can sometimes definitely be hectic, but we have found a lot of fun, creativity, and imagination in lego engineering and building. All of the kids are always so happy to show off their buildings and creations. Honestly it blows me away with what they are able to build. Take a look at some of their creations!
Farrington Nature Club
One of our very fun outside provider clubs is the Farrington Nature Club. The kids have learned so many new things in this club. They learned about owls, mushrooms, animal footprints, and more. The pictures below are from the day they learned about maple trees and maple sap. They got to try maple syrup too which they definitely loved. We love Ms. Meg and this nature club!
Board Games Club
The 3rd-6th grade students in the board games club with Ms. Nicole have really been enjoying their club. They are learning some new games that they didn’t know before. They are cooperating and building teamwork skills while having fun at the same time. One of the best parts about this club is seeing students who don’t normally hang out with one another play games together!
In the mixed Media art club we got to make our own puffy paint with shaving cream, paint and glue! It was messy and a lot of fun!
Pre-K
Our pre-k friends have been having a great time in after school too! They had a lot of fun making english muffin pizzas with Ms. Savannah and Mr. Alex. I think they liked making the pizzas just as much as they liked eating them! It was a fun change to their daily routine. They have also been playing with the kindergarten and 1st grade students which has been great for them too, especially since they’ll be in kindergarten pretty soon!
In Bio Bus students got to gather organisms to look at under a microscope. Each student has their own journal to record their findings and everyone had a blast seeing things on a new level!
As always, if you have questions or anything at all. Please get in touch with Ms. Alison. Thank you again for all support of our program over the ups and downs and changes we have had over these past couple years. We really do appreciate it.

Hello Families!
We have had a great Time in Afterschool so far this March! The weather is slowly transitioning from snowy to sunny, but the students are really making the most of it with their exploring, learning, and all the fun clubs and activities!
Pre K/ K
This month our pre-k kiddos focused on Homes Around the World. Ms. Latifa read them lots of stories like, ‘My Home, Your Home’ and ‘Wonderful Houses Around the World’. They practiced their counting and shapes through various activities. They even got to paint their own representation of what their house is like through their eyes! How Cute!
Our Kindergarten friends continue to join the First Grade in clubs and are practicing their reading during HW Time. We’ve also been very into pokemon these past few weeks! Lots of time spent printing and cutting to make our own pokemon cards.
Grade 1
First grade has welcomed their new teacher, Ms. Veronica! She’s brought a new sense of creativity to the group and they are all looking forward to what’s to come. Their favorite club continues to be CinemaKidz, they thoroughly enjoy getting to create their own films and watching them back.
World Wide as a close second, they got to make their own postcards from France! They are also all full of laughter and joy When it comes to Kidstock. The teachers really know how to bring stories alive!
Grades 2nd-5th
Our 2nd-5th grade students have been enjoying the Session 2 clubs as well! In Bio Bus they put their scientist skills to the test as they learned about different types of specimens. They got to get all up close and personal with what insects and soil really looks like.
During our half day all of the students got to enjoy some gym time, with many rounds of Pac-Man Tag and Animal warm-ups. Last but most certainly not least, our older students have gotten so much joy from CinemaKidz. They get to live out their celebrity dreams by working on very elaborate skits!

Hello Friends and Families!!
Welcome to Session 3!
We hope you are having an amazing March and happy Spring!! Although for many March may feel like our longest month of the year for us it flew by! With the start of spring and a new session of clubs, there is a lot of excitement in the air. By now, all of our kiddos have been starting their new clubs in our last session of the school year! As the days get longer and the weather warms up we are spending more and more time outside and loving every minute of it!
Our Pre-K friends had a very busy month with Ms. Jane! Our friends have been partaking in activities like play dough making, soccer, and even dance parties! During our time in Pre-K clubs we are also learning important skills like sharing, kindness and much more!
The Kindergarten through 2nd grade have just started their new clubs and are having a fantastic time! This session we have introduced a new club called Love Ya Ma (Art and Spanish club). Although there is only one new addition to our clubs, we have kept some of our most popular clubs like Dei Lab, Veggie Circus and Kidstock and our kiddos are loving it!
The 3rd through 6th grade wrapped up Session 2 Clubs and had a strong start in Session 3! They have been thoroughly enjoying their time with Ms.Seana and all the clubs she teaches! We have mastered our homework/reading time and often spend our free time outside playing kickball or in the gym playing doctor dodgeball! No matter the activity, our friends have done an amazing job being inclusive and caring for the people around them!
