Under the umbrella theme “Collective Fitness”, MUSTAHVEKEYS proposes to make self-observation a creative concept. Guided by artists and experts, participants will create artworks that explore the idea of “self”. A series of three workshops shall be organized, focusing on the following aspects of art creation – conceptualization, technique, and display. Participants will get to know the works of different artists, try out various art techniques, and come to understand the importance of art display and preservation.
Ernest Chan is a picture framing and mounting expert with more than ten years of experience. The workshop covers different aspects of artwork framing – mounting, glazing, decorative finishes, and fundamental concepts of art preservation. Participants will have hands-on experience in mount cutting and frame construction.
Students who have participated in the “Self-Portrait Workshop” or “Papercutting Workshop” can frame their completed artwork(s) by themselves. Students who have not participated in the previous two workshops are welcome to register.
Participants will learn:
Basic Western picture framing techniques;
Fundamentals of art framing.

MUSTHAVEKEYS, a Hong Kong-based multidisciplinary curatorial studio, serves to build the KEYS that connect the creative minds with the community- KEYS in the form of ground-breaking art and cultural initiatives that generate meaningful exchanges among artists, designers, and community partners; KEYS forged with partners to champion multidisciplinary collaborations from concept to final creation; and KEYS for the public to open doors to unconventional cultural engagements and art appreciation.
In 2020 and 2021, MUSTHAVEKEYS curated the two editions of “Up Close – Hollywood Road”, a first-of-its-kind exhibition that took contemporary art into the everyday environment and operation of local antique shops, creating dialogues between past and present, arts and traditional crafts.
