I saw the beaming glow
you sent me last night.
It came through my window
And it shone with your laugh,
rattling
and twinkling with pure starlight.
Infectious and effortlessly creeping
into my ribs.
It hides behind the moon
Then breaks darkness
When it hits the glass, and spreads
across my room.
The light passes over my head as quickly as it comes,
My eyes are left burning.
The light patterns dissolve,
Back to the moon,
Back to the stars,
Awaiting the next meteor shower
That is raptured by that same laugh.
I loved learning about specific light patterns that come from different frequencies. I found comfort in knowing that the wavelengths are always reocgnizable by their patterns - no matter where you are in the world, the inner light of these frequencies remains the same. Light can be broken up into its component colors, and every element has its own pattern. Naturally, in an astronomy class, I spent a lot of time thinking about the night sky. I thought about the auroras that we learned about, and how those, too are immeditaely reecognizable by their light. People and their souls shine the same way - always the same, always familiar.
