Welcome to Collected Light, a gallery celebrating the intersection of science and poetry.

For two weeks, students explored the nature of light through experiments in optics and astronomy examining spectra, polarization, reflection, refraction, and the light of the Sun and stars with Poet & Professor Claudine R. Moreau. They also learned to observe like poets, transforming scientific discoveries into creative expression.

Each page in this gallery represents one student's journey from observation to wonder. Inside you'll find a polished poem, an image inspired by their scientific exploration, a brief explanation of the science behind the poem, and an audio recording of the student reading their work.

Whether viewed through the lens of a telescope or the lens of a poem, light has stories to tell.
