The Final Chapter

So what have these pages to do with the journey beyond the self?

Nothing directly! My descriptions are about and after the fact and not a way to the path beyond. It doesn't happen through learning, it happens through destruction and unlearning and that is not something one does but something that happens to the you that you think you are.

Nothing happens to the one that is!

The journey to the cliff edge and the eventual falling off are two very separate events.

The first event may or may not cause the second I don't know, but I do know that the first part of the cycle is filled with the fear that was created by the relationship with the false self. Not that there is a true self but in reality no self at all. Once the jump has taken place, all the fear from the old paradigm starts to dissipate and a new territory makes itself available in a rebirth from separateness to re-integrated oneness.

Jed McKenna calls this falling off the cliff, 'The First Step' and until this happens, nothing can happen with regard to the Journey Beyond the Self because it is the jump into the abyss. Surrender takes place not through decision but through necessity. The old life is over and a new life has started. This process for me was incredibly painful and like the 911 collapsing of the towers into ash, destroying the existence of the buildings. This process destroyed the towers that were the foundations of my-self.

The good fortune of seeing the nature of this separate self in my dream described here, relieved a lot of pain during the breakdown or more correctly stated 'The Break Up.'
