Ms. Bonnie Wang is an Assistant Director of Diversity, Equity and Engagement and Upper School Chinese teacher at Durham Academy, in Durham North Carolina. She was awarded 2019 Teacher of the Year by FLANC, Fostering Language Acquisition at North Carolina, and is currently President of FLANC. Ms. Wang holds a B.A. in Psychology from Portland State University, and an M.A. in Linguistics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has taught Chinese at UNC-Chapel Hill, Princeton in Beijing, and served multiple roles in several STARTALK programs at UPenn, UVA, Winston Salem State University, and UNC-Chapel Hill. Wang is an ACTFL certified OPI tester and AAPPL rater. Her pedagogical research focuses on incorporating social justice into the World Language curriculum, supporting students with learning differences, as well as integrating calligraphy, Taichi, and classical poetry into Chinese Language and Culture curriculum.
