SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Park Tudor is currently seeking an experienced, innovative, and collaborative Upper School Chinese language teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. The successful candidate will lead and oversee the Chinese Language program, teaching Chinese I, II, III and IV classes in the Upper School, as well as a Chinese Culture and Language class in the Middle School. We are seeking candidates who thrive in a supportive environment and are willing to engage in travel programs and other extracurricular activities.

The World Language department currently incorporates a performance to proficiency curricular approach to second language acquisition for all language students. The ideal applicant will demonstrate a working knowledge of ACTFL proficiency levels, fluency in the language of instruction, and be adept at designing and delivering engaging lessons that cater to diverse learning styles and levels. Park Tudor offers a comprehensive language program starting in junior kindergarten. In addition to Chinese, we offer Spanish, French and Latin, providing students with a diverse array of language options to enhance their skills and broaden their horizons.

The foreign language teacher will motivate each student to develop competencies, knowledge and skills in aurally comprehending, speaking, reading and writing a foreign language, in accordance with each student’s ability, to interpret to students the culture of the countries where the foreign language is spoken to discover and develop special talents of students in foreign language communication.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university.

Valid Indiana Teacher's License in the particular foreign language (must have or be able to obtain an Indiana teacher’s licenses).

This is a full IB school, plus for teachers that are familiar with the MYP or the DP curriculum. The teacher will be teaching 4 levels. Chinese1\Chinese 2\Ab Initio 1\Ab Initio2. This is a great school to work at, and the teachers here have high autonomy. School time is from 9-4. The teacher teaches 3 blocks per day and has 1 block of prep.

This school is located in the west suburb of Chicago. The school has a growing Mandarin Program. The teacher will travel between two campuses and have two other Mandarin teachers to collaborate with. The district uses Integrated Chinese and offers AP Chinese. The teacher teaches Chinese 1/Chiense2/Chinese 3/Chinese AP.  The teacher will teach 4 periods per day and one period to travel, and one period of prep.
