The 2026 CLTA-IN Coffee Hour, held online on February 13, 2026, concluded successfully with a vibrant exchange of pedagogical ideas and professional experiences. This virtual gathering brought together Chinese language educators to explore innovative teaching strategies and cultural engagement activities.
The success of this event is attributed to the enthusiastic participation of our members and the insightful contributions of our guest speakers.
Featured Presentations:
The coffee hour featured three distinguished educators who shared their latest teaching achievements and classroom experiences:
Dr. Ying-sin Chen delivered an engaging session on Video-Based Instruction, demonstrating how multimedia tools can be integrated to enhance student engagement and language acquisition.
Ms. Chunmei Guan and Ms. Yi-chun LeFaure shared their expertise on Chinese New Year Theme Activities and Club Management, providing practical examples of how to organize large-scale cultural events and foster a thriving community for Chinese learners.
Ms. Mei Mansingh presented on Project-Based Learning (PBL), demonstrating how student-centered projects can transform the classroom from a place where students learn language into a space where they truly live and experience it. She has refined through five years of practical experience in U.S. high schools, fosters a more robust and sustainable language learning environment. As she plans to continue sharing her practical methodologies and insights, she welcome and value any feedback from our fellow educators.
