Indiana Chinese Speech & Talent Contest Registration and Regulations
Thank you for joining us for the 2026 Indiana Chinese Speech & Talent Contest--we look forward to seeing all of this year's wonderful speeches and performances!
The submission deadline is Wednesday, April 1, 2026.
Each teacher may submit up to 5 entries for the speech contest and up to 5 entries for the talent contest. Please complete this form once for each entry. If a contestant is entering both the speech and talent contest, please complete the form twice (once for speech contest, once for talent contest). If a group of students is entering a single performance for the talent contest, please complete the form once and include all students' information.

1. Provide all necessary background and contact information within the registration form.
2. Provide a link to the student's video submission at the end of the registration form.
Video Submission Content Requirements:
Each video entry should include: (1) a brief self-introduction which will be evaluated for assignment to appropriate proficiency level, and (2) a recording of the speech and/or talent performance.
One video per entry.
Video and sound should be clear and not heavily edited.
File name format: Student full English name_Student Chinese name_speech/talent contest_contest category_entry title

Lisa Johnson_李四_talent contest_music performance_茉莉花
Introduction (time limit: 30 seconds)
Must be delivered fully in Mandarin Chinese and reflect the contestant's level of proficiency.
One take, no editing
If a group of students submits a group performance for the talent contest, all students should speak in the introduction
Speech (time limit: 1-3 minutes)
Must be delivered fully in Mandarin Chinese (possible themes: Chinese and Me, My Most Memorable Experience, The Most Important Person in My Life)
One take, no editing
Contestants should wear professional clothing in front of a non-distracting background
Talent Performance (time limit: 1-5 minutes)
Must be connected to Chinese art or culture (ex. performance of a Chinese song or traditional instrument, Chinese martial arts, traditional/contemporary Chinese dance, Chinese tongue twisters, etc.)
Footage should be taken from an angle where the performer and any instruments or props are clearly visible

5. Submit proof of paid registration fee or active CLTA-IN membership within the registration form.
Speech contest Categories:
Foreign Language Learner: Students (non-heritage learners) who are enrolled in a non-immersion foreign language program
Immersion Learner: Students who are enrolled in an immersion program, regardless of their first/home language background
Heritage Learner:
Students who speak Mandarin Chinese with at least one family member
Students who have learned Mandarin Chinese during extensive residence abroad (at least one year), regardless of their first/home language background
