From fall 2023 to spring 2024, I served as the Media & Communications Intern for the Department of Political Science at Stony Brook University. I was the sole PR intern under the department's Business Administrator, Michael Boerner, managing social media accounts, the website and promotional messaging.
In this role, I conducted faculty and alumni interviews on their latest projects and current research. I drafted, proofread and uploaded wide-ranging content across the department's website and social media platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn and X). I also composed weekly press releases and contributed to the semesterly newsletter content, which were distributed to current students, faculty, staff, alumni and donors. Additionally, I managed daily updates to the department website using the University's web content management system, Modern Campus CMS (formerly Omni CMS).

Master of Arts in Political Science (MAPS) Website
Here I played a key role in the redesign of the MAPS website for the Fall 2023 semester. With a new director taking over the graduate program, I helped see out the updated vision using Stony Brook's content management system, Modern Campus CMS. Updates included the Home Page, Programs Page, Alumni Page and Contact Us page.

Graphics
I used Canva to create a variety of different graphics, including flyers, social media posts and content for Brightspace, Stony Brook's official learning management system, all of which reached students, faculty, Ph.D. students and alumni within the Department.
Fall 2023 Newsletter
For this newsletter, I interviewed Department faculty members, Ph.D. students and alumni for up-to-date information, where I spotlighted new publications and awards. Using those interviews, I crafted four different stories to be published in the newsletter. I also ensured accessibility by using Adobe Acrobat to send out the PDF version.
Below are just a couple of the stories I wrote for the Fall 2023 Newsletter:
For the final newsletter of my internship, I interviewed department faculty members, a Ph.D. student and NYS Assembly interns about their upcoming research, achievements and experiences. This edition featured six articles I wrote, all of which were published in the newsletter. To enhance accessibility, I used Adobe Acrobat to distribute the PDF version.
