My name is Clare Gehlich, a multimedia journalist based in Richmond, Virginia. I am a Digital Producer at WRIC ABC 8News and the Album Coordinator at Melodic Magazine. Originally from Long Island, New York, I hold a B.A. in Journalism and a Minor in Political Science from Stony Brook University.
Throughout my career, I've gained experience across multiple platforms, including digital, audio, broadcast and print journalism. I was the second-ever Korva Coleman intern at North Country Public Radio in fall 2021 and have since held internships at the Long Island Herald, WSHU Public Radio and Stony Brook’s Department of Political Science as the Media & Communications Intern. I also served as the Assistant Arts & Culture Editor for The Statesman, Stony Brook’s award-winning student-run newspaper, and the inaugural producer of Collaborative for the Earth’s podcast, C4E Presents.
With a passion for science journalism, breaking news and arts reporting, I thrive in dynamic storytelling environments where I can deeply connect with audiences, write with purpose and immediately impact my greater community. I am especially committed to amplifying underrepresented voices, particularly those of Asian Americans in media, culture and society, and I'm excited to continue telling stories that make a difference right here in Central Virginia.
