Abel Clary is little known. At the time of writing, there is no Wikipedia article about him and no videos on YouTube. GPT-3.5, when asked about his life, simply made up a hallucination about a fictitious person born on June 12, 1965! Most of what is known about the real Abel Clary comes from Charles Finney himself.
Clary was an intercessor who remained in the background but was one of the faithful pray-ers behind the success of Charles Finney. He was an associate of Daniel Nash.
17 June, 1796 - Clary was born in Colrain, Massachusetts.
He was licensed to preach but his burden for prayer was much greater.
Clary and Daniel Nash would travel ahead of Finney, praying for weeks before Finney would arrive in a town, and continuing to pray before, during and after his meetings. They sought no glory of their own but simply wanted to see people saved and God glorified.
He would often writhe and groan in anguish over the souls of lost men and women.
