ChessMAX Junior Chess Club was started by the Hindu Samaj Swindon Charity as part of its youth initiative, founded by Nilesh Gohil and Peter Richmond. What began as a small group of just five enthusiastic young players has grown into a vibrant community of over 50 children who now attend weekly sessions. This journey has been made possible with the incredible support of parents and the dedication of our volunteer coaches, who together create a fun, welcoming space for children to learn, grow, and enjoy the game of chess.
The club continues to operate as a non-profit initiative, with Hindu Samaj Swindon Charity as our charity partner. We run three groups to cater to different ages and skill levels:
Group 1: Ages 6 to under 10s
Group 2: 10+ and stronger players
Group 3: Advanced players
We encourage our members to attend regular ECF and FIDE-rated tournaments, participate in local league matches, and join group coaching sessions. Through these activities, children develop their skills, build confidence, and enjoy the social and competitive aspects of chess within a supportive community.
