Cheam's Monday Morning Friendly Club

Our newly set up club for seniors who want to make new friends and enjoy some light exercise to improve mobility.

Cheam Rotary members Sandra Malyon, Sally Gilliver and Peter Thomas have started a club for seniors who want to make new friends and enjoy some light exercise to improve mobility. First, Peter worked with SCILL Sutton to get it off the ground. SCILL provided the initial funding and expertise before handing over the project entirely to Cheam Rotary. Now the merged Club, Cheam and Sutton Rotary continue with the Monday Club.

Fr Darren of St Dunstan's Church offered their beautiful new community hall located behind the ancient parish church of Cheam.

With the handover complete in October 2015 the seniors have named their club: The Monday Morning Friendly Club. From the outset friendliness has been the watchword as the club has grown to over 20 members.

They see it as offering a warm welcome where men and women can make friends while enjoying refreshments and conversation after some light exercise to loosen the muscles.
