This project is a talking compass that I designed on the MIT App Inventor program. This app can be used by individuals who are blind, or have a hard time telling directions. I created this app by adding a large button, so that an individual can press anywhere on the screen, and get the direction that their phone is pointing, using features such as orientation sensor, azimuth, text to speech, and degrees to be able to tell the directions. The app is able to tell the directions north, north east, east, southeast, south, southwest, west, and northwest, depending on where the phone is pointing.Â
