This rocking perch was created by cutting out sides, a long top poice and a bottom piece. After all of the peices were cut, the long peice was scored in 2 different spots, in order for the cardboard peice to bend over the top of the sides. Hot glue was then used to secrure the top peice to the side peices, and wooden nails were added for extra support. Then, thinner peices of cardboard were used to reinforce the sides, and to cover the bottom to ensure that nothing can get inside of the perch. FInally, the edges were taped with water activated tape to reinforce the corners and edges. Cutting the rounded bottom (that allows the perch to rock) was definetly the hardest part of the project, as it was the first expereince I have had cutting a curved line with a jigsaw. The rocking perch can be used by children or adults that have sensory needs. allowing them to slightly rock while sitting down. It also provides seating supporting and postioning for when sitting.
