General Background (some details shift for verse, or individual interactions as needed.)
As a child, Luke witnesses the aftermath of a mass shooting at a neighborhood coffee shop. He meets another boy among the onlookers at the scene: Daniel, who invites him to play and quickly becomes his friend. Although others cannot see Daniel, he appears physically real to Luke. This is seen as a pretty regular occurrence, and as an innocent invisible childhood friend.
Their friendship comes to an end when Daniel tricks Luke into blending an entire bottle of Claire's psychiatric medication into a smoothie, poisoning her. Claire makes Luke send Daniel away by symbolically locking him in her mother's old dollhouse.
Years later, college-aged Luke struggles with his social life and his responsibility to his mother, who copes with mental illness. He confides to his therapist, Dr. Cornelius Braun, that he is afraid he will eventually become just like her.
Relationships: Luke tends to fall in and out of relationships quickly. They start quick and end just as fast. He goes into them with good intentions, but usually, things fall flat on one side or the other.
Hobbies/Lifestyle: Luke enjoys smoking when he's alone, and drinking when he's at parties, but typically not heavily as it tends to make him more anxious. His favorite past times are whenever he finds a cool abandoned building to sneak into. Sometimes this is for photography, but others it's just to be somewhere that's been left behind. Photography (mostly candid portraiture), Journaling, wandering into places he probably shouldn't.
