General Background (some details shift for verse, or individual interactions as needed.)

Leon was born into a family of crime. Not tax fraud, or selling shitty merchandise, but deep black market dealings and actual mob bosses at holiday dinners. This left Leon with a few marks; An ability to take part in petty crimes from a young age without much thought. A very complex relationship with his parents, and then ultimately a call to action to do better.

When Leon was 16, both of his parents were killed in a dealing gone wrong, and was only spared because a cop saved his life; this made him want to become a cop, thinking he could make a difference, and be like the man who saved him. Once in the academy however, he quickly realized it was a severely broken system, one with which he had a major issue following the authority. It didn't take long for him to quit, turning to other EMS jobs instead.

Leon has struggled with drinking, especially in his teens, and even more so after the deaths of his parents. He spent two years in a shelter, where there wasn't much in the way of adult supervision. There came a point when his drinking almost cost him his job, and at that point he finally said enough, and got help.
