Pronunciation: [bəˈsɛɹɪən ˈɪzlɪŋtən]
Etymology: These are the names of two Toronto subway stations (as well as the Bessarion Islington Observatory, which is the current establishment of the Donkeys of Earl Grey), in case you haven't noticed. They're supposed to be named after him.
Other names: Sari is short for Bessarion.
Type: Keeper
Sari was the Keeper during the fourteenth century. Found as an orphan on the streets of Marseille by the Wielders of the Core, he quickly rose in its ranks while believing himself to be a Tracker due to the spirit flame he displayed, and therefore fit for leadership. However, he was actually a Keeper with the ability to change his spirit flame, and when this was discovered, he was instantly placed as leader, a position he wasn't ready for and didn't think he should have. He took to it well, becoming friends with a dragon (Ontario) and creating the first-ever treaty between humankinds and Creatures, a truce with the Donkeys that was set to bring peace to the world forever. Seeing technological developments that could cause much more destruction than current weapons, he also created the final general law with the help of the Draçonic Council, to outlaw technological weaponry. However, suspicions of betrayal by certain Donkeys made him create the Ialus as a precaution and send Destroyers to Destroy them, an event the surviving Creatures refer to as the Great Torment. Graelia the third Donkey, one of the survivors, erased all memory of Frishenisc as retribution, and the war began anew with even more hatred on both sides. He was shunned and executed by the Wielders, and the Great Torment, rather than what he accomplished, became his legacy.
