Is there a separate fee for Maricopa County 4-H vs Chandler Hot Shots 4-H?
Yes, there is. As of 2024-2025 4-H season, the fee is $40 a year/member and you can participate in any club. For instance, you can be in dairy cow club, cooking club, horse club, and shooting sports club and pay this one fee per year. This covers you under the 4-H overall umbrella insurance. You must sign up and pay this fee before shooting at our meetings.
To be a member in Chandler Hot Shots 4-H, it is $30 a month per member. This pays for supplies, ammo, and consumables for our club. If there is a family with more than one member there are discounts, which are the following: 1st kid-$30, 2nd kid- $20. $15 each additional/per month
How do I pay my monthly Chandler Hot Shots Dues?
You can pay cash at the meetings or you can pay via Square.
When can I compete in a 4-H Shooting Competition?
You can compete in a competition in 4-H shooting sports when:
you have completed a meeting going over competition commands/call-outs
feel comfortable with unloading and loading your firearm
feel comfortable uncasing/recasing your gun
most importantly, when your leader says you are ready
There are competition rules for all the disciplines here. https://extension.arizona.edu/sites/default/files/2024-10/2024-2025-State-Shooting-Sports-Match-Rules.pdf
Do I have to live in Chandler to participate in Chandler Hot Shots 4-H Shooting Club?
No, you don't have to live in Chandler. We serve youth from all over Maricopa County but mainly in the East Valley including Chandler, Mesa, Gilbert, Ahwatukee, Phoenix, Tempe, and Scottsdale. If you live in Maricopa County and are willing to travel where we shoot, you can participate.
Can I bring my own firearm or bow to the meetings?
We do encourage practicing with your own firearm, if you have it. It isn’t necessary to have your own equipment. We can provide it. However, if you decide to bring your own CASED gun to the meetings, please reach out to Jon at 480-200-0247 or Paul at 559-289-5676 beforehand to go over the details required.

How do parents get involved?
To protect our youth, 4-H has strict rules about other parents helping our members. To get certified and become a vetted volunteer, Arizona 4-H Shooting Sports facilitates a training 2 times a year to get certified in any of the disciplines. However, before you attend a training, you will need to get fingerprint clearance card, background checked and volunteer certified by 4-H. To get more info, ask a volunteer leader.
4-H Shooting Sports takes a team of willing parents, volunteers and instructors to make this happen. If you have a desire to help administratively, please reach out too.
I have a family member or friend that wants to make a donation or sponsor CHS, where should we lead them?
Look at the sponsor tab on our site or talk to a leader.
