The use of muzzleloading firearms brings us back to our shooting sports roots. The 4-H muzzleloader discipline includes instruction in the safe handling and use of black powder rifles, shotguns and handguns, including percussion and flintlock ignition systems. Project members will gain experience loading, firing and caring for muzzleloading firearms under the supervision of a 4-H certified muzzleloading instructor. Popular courses of fire include 50 yard bullseye and steel silhouette matches.
In 4-H Shooting Sports:
8-10 year olds are considered Juniors
11-13 year olds are considered Intermediates
14-19 years old are considered Seniors
