What is pastoral support?

Pastoral Support is our service that gives you help and support as well as providing information, advice and guidance.

We always work in close partnership with other services and teachers, specialist agencies.

What are our aims?

Our aim is to identify any concerns or issues at the earliest possible opportunity and remove any barriers to learning which may be preventing you from reaching your potential.

We pride ourselves in getting to know you well. We aim to develop positive relationships with you and your family if appropriate. We respond as quickly as possible to any issues and ensure that difficulties are discussed and resolved in the best possible way.

We laise with other professionals if need be to ensure that you get the best possible all round support for your learning.

What does this mean in practice?

Well, some examples of pastoral support are:

Behaviour support/management
Emotional help (including anger management and counselling)
Academic support (including intervention work, extended work experience specialised timetables and programmes)
Conflict resolution
Peer mediation
Links to specialist external agencies
Motivational support
Family support group
Work experience
Help finding the right nursary
Financial support (scholarships, childcare, bursaries, travel costs). Funds are limited. Ask for details

Who gives Pastoral Support?

The pastoral system is led by me.

I oversee all of our support arrangements. However, all of our team are trained and able to give you support when needed.
