Too often, land use decision-making happens in isolation from conservation planning. Development by Design seeks to overcome this barrier by connecting the impact assessment process to a communities conservation plan. This webinar will explore in a case study how TNC Australia partnered with Walalakoo Aboriginal Corporation in Western Australia to adapt the Development by Design process and build it around the group’s Healthy Country Plan.
This webinar will outline how Development by Design can assist Indigenous People and Local Communities (IPLC) in building internal capacity for decision-making and upkeeping the principles of Free, Prior, and Informed Consent.
In this webinar you will learn about innovative ways of linking conservation planning to development decision-making to ensure decisions are not made in isolation and that the free, prior, informed consent of IPLCs for development proposals on their land is safeguarded.
