Crème Brûlée is like daily life: we all look for a good balance between our personal freedom, the guidelines of our communal life and the respect for the law. Our event is private and communal, only open to the members of the French Burners’ non-profit (your membership is included in the ticket price), who co-created by our participants. We all agree to follow our 11 principles, but also this “Living together” guidelines.
Violence or abuse : we DO NOT tolerate violent or abusive behavior. If you witness a violent situation, please call a Super Heros on shift who will address it.
Everyone consent must always be respected if you happen to be in one of these situations and wish to talk about it, you can talk to any person wearing a necklace with an illuminated box with the symbol shown below, as they have volunteered to collect testimonies.
If you have been in a situation in which your consent hasn’t been respected, or a violent situation.
If you witnessed a situation in which a person/people’s consent hasn’t been respected.
If you believe that you created a situation where a person/people’s consent wasn’t respected.
Someone told you about a situation in which a person/people’s consent wasn’t been respected.
We also advise you to fill out the form which can be found online via the QR codes at the Bobologie (first aid post), in the bathrooms and at the back of the consent pendant (you can find a paper version of this form at the Boboologie). With this, you will be able to express yourself and/or ask for a resolution of the incident. The type of resolution will be discussed with you, the consent leads and the people that are responsible for the event (360 leads).
After examination of the facts, these people will chose (or not) to take all the necessary steps towards the participant who showed violent or abusive behaviour. These measures may escalate to exclusion and/or a formal complaint at the police station. All these discussions will stay confidential unless there is a need to involve the police.
Respect the community and act with empathy and maturity. Remember that we promote inclusion… Which means there will be children onsite. Use your common sense and do not do things in public that you wouldn’t show your own kids.
Don’t take any picture or video without asking people for their consent first.
Safety around the water : there is a river 500 meters OUTSIDE of the event’s perimeter. We ask you to be careful for your own safety. There is no lifeguard and we recommend that you avoid bathing in it due to strong currents (especially at night).
Let's respect our environment. We ask everyone to take care of nature and also the infrastructure present. In particular the cleanliness of sanitary areas and toilets.
Respect the law : as burners, we believe in civic responsibility. The French Burners non profit, who produces the event, respects the local laws and all local rules. We ask all participants to do the same. When you drive outside of Crème Brûlée, make sure that you’re not intoxicated and that you’ve had enough rest. You can stay onsite as much as you need to leave in the best conditions.
There is no WIFI and little network onsite. Great ! This is a chance to disconnect from your phone and connect with other human beings. You can post your pictures and memories on social networks later. Enjoy the present moment. (And remember to ask people for consent when you take a video or picture of them).
Last but not least : if you die at Crème Brûlée, you die in the real world too. So be self-reliant and don’t do stupid things ;)
