ALL RULES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE
Any infractions will be met with a three (3) strike system, and should you max out your strikes, you will be muted temporarily. Continued infractions after this will result in a kick from the server. Severity of infraction may result in an instant ban.
DISCLAIMER: CCMM is a horror RPG with disturbing topics and imagery. While we use content warnings and the Discord spoiler system, you are the one responsible for what you consume and your mental safety.
Blacklist, as relevant to things we won’t include in the writing: sexual assault, drugs, pedophilia, LGBTphobia, demonization of mental illnesses and disabilities
—- This blacklist can/will be expanded upon per player request.
In CCMM, you can expect: Body horror, psychological horror, cosmic horror, surrealism, unreality (hallucinations/delusions), unhealthy relationships (manipulation, gaslighting, abuse), mental instability, gore, cannibalism, religious themes and imagery (fictional), violence, death, emotional and physical trauma, child terror, adult fear
General Rules
You must be 16+ or over to join this RP. This is referencing body age, and not your maturity. This rule goes for systems as well- your body age MUST be 16 or over. If we find out you were lying about your age, you will be kicked. You are welcome to rejoin when you meet the age requirements.
We do not tolerate any sort of bigotry or prejudiced speech here. Any instances of such will be met with a swift ban.
If a member of our server is harassing you either in server or out of server, be that different groups or through dms, inform staff. We will swiftly take action. We do not want people who would act negatively towards others in our server, impacting our community.
Be respectful of each other and be civil. We want to foster an environment where everyone feels welcomed and at ease. We also discourage excessive profanity and disallow NSFW chat and/or jokes since there are minors present. If there is an altercation, contact the mods so we can sort it out. This can be done using the ticket system.
Do not vent within this server.
Keep conversation to the appropriate channels. Your messages will be deleted if they are not relevant to the purpose of the channel. There is to be no ooc chatter in RP channels, no chatter in submission channels.
Art theft is strictly forbidden. If you’re using art not your own, you must have permission to do so and credit the artist. Art thieves will be banned from our server with no hesitation.
CCMM runs on a referral / sign up system. Members who have had a character approved are encouraged to invite their friends even when we aren’t open for sign ups, unless otherwise specified!
We will be utilizing activity checks. They will be held on the final weekend of every month. We will give a heads up, as there will be an activity check schedule readily available. How they will work is as follows: we will post a message that you will react to with an emoji. After that, the window to react will have closed. For players with no high ranks, you are allowed to miss THREE (3) activity checks. On your third missed one, you will be given a notice. Should you miss the next check after your warning, your characters will be put in limbo. For hiatuses, you will be exempt from all activity checks during your absence.
If you have a high-ranking character and do not alert the mods ahead of time, you cannot miss activity checks. If you miss one and don’t contact us within the week, we will remove your high rank and you will not be able to apply for another one until you satisfy two more activity checks. If your high ranking cat is not used in roleplays over the span of a month with no hiatus notice, even if you have passed the activity checks your character’s status may be revoked.
⤷ We understand that sometimes things can happen out of the blue. If you miss one for whatever reason, please talk to us, as we understand extenuating circumstances. However, if we find out you are abusing our leniency, you will be stripped of your high rank and be given a warning.
Behavior Expectations
CCMM being a horror group is not an excuse for horrifying behavior. This community is a welcoming one, where we can build a story, hang out, and have a good time. You can and will be kicked for having a bad attitude.
We can only work with what we are given. Players, please come to us about ideas you want to execute, plots you have in mind for your characters, what direction you want to take your characters in, etc. Involve yourself in things, and speak up! We try to involve everyone and have events aplenty, but we can’t make you participate. The more you talk to stuff and roleplay with your fellow players, the more involved in our world you get!
Members who have been with us for a while: Be inclusive of newcomers. Do not ignore, get an attitude with, or refuse to engage with them. Answer questions about what’s been going on inworld, explain server jokes/running gags, write with them, etc.
Do not get an attitude with staff for doing their jobs. Notably, when it comes to being denied something or told you’ll need to edit an aspect of your character. By joining CCMM, you are choosing to engage in the world that the owners have built, a world that shapes our story. There is a box to work within, a very fancy box that is also quite large.
Be sure not to talk over others and acknowledge what they say. Don’t ignore or post over others posting their work in the art channe, or when they’re looking for relationships / roleplay, and engage when people talk about their characters!
Roleplay Rules
We are a semi-literate to literate group. This means that the minimum post length is five (5) sentences, including dialogue. We do not write in first person or second person, only third person.
When posting something that has triggering content, list the triggers before the post and spoiler the triggering material in text. We love our villainous, outright evil, and morally dubious characters, and this is a heavy horror group to boot, and so the safety of our members is especially important. Make sure to read the room, especially if you’re writing an unhealthy relationship (include trigger warnings in interactions). And remember, just because someone is writing it does not mean they endorse it. Conflict is the backbone of any story, and this is a horror group.
Mating and birthing roleplays are NOT ALLOWED.
This RPG is fluid time, meaning you can have one character in multiple rps at once! Our in-world time is measured by our Full-Moon and Half-Moon Gathering events.
If you leave without wrapping up your plot-lines or telling staff what you want done with your characters, we may NPC your characters. It won’t be for a long time, but be aware it could happen. If your character has influenced the world of CCMM, we don’t want to disrupt any plotlines due to them abruptly vanishing. This does include the possibility of a plot-relevant death. If your character hasn’t had any influence, they’ll simply be retconned.
We want to encourage building your own plots and having fun with the world- however, we, the staff, need to maintain a certain level of awareness as to what’s going on. If you plan to have something big happen, such as a dangerous predator (corporeal or not), a patrol skirmish, a coup against leadership, etc, you have to give the staff a heads-up. In all likelihood, we’ll be happy to give you the green light on whatever you want to do, so don’t hesitate to talk to us about it! You can ask us in the questions channel, or open up a room ticket. Once you talk to us, we’ll give you the go-ahead to do your rp.
Please keep in mind how characters treat each other is not personal or indicative of how that particular player feels about you. This is all just for fun!
There is to be no chatting in roleplay channels. Use ooc channels only. Non-rp messages in roleplay channels will be deleted.
Absolutely no erp (erotic rp) of any sorts.
No godmodding or controlling other people’s characters. If there is a fight taking place in character, discuss beforehand the outcome of the battle. Not every hit will hand and not every hunt will be successful. There’s no shame in your character losing- conflict and failure is part of every story. Keep attacks open-ended (“she aimed a swipe”), but don’t be hesitant to let your character get hit. Angst is half the fun after all!
If you decide to kill off a character, notify a mod so we are aware. Characters cannot be made for the sole purpose of getting killed. If you lose muse for a character, notify a mod and we will allow you to kill them off but you have to wait a week before making a new one.
Apprentice/warrior relationships are not permitted, nor are apprentice/apprentice relationships beyond crushes. We do not permit plots, even in character history, where an apprentice or a cat who has just graduated/become a warrior becomes pregnant or has kittens.
When your character dies, they’ll be moved to the StarClan, Winding Maze, or Roots tabs on the Allegiances spreadsheet. They will not be available to rp outside of special events. However, if you have something in mind, open up a ticket and discuss with staff! We want to build a story here, after all.
We like to have fun around here, so the cats are allowed to say the fuck word, as well as any other curse word they so desire.
Though we permit forbidden romances, they require special tickets from the shop to do so. Every player involved in a forbidden romance must buy their own ticket.
Character Rules
You start off with two Clan Cat slots and can earn three more via our activity check system. Each of your first three activity checks passed will earn you a character slot. You can also buy two additional character slots: a Clan Slot and an Outsider Slot. You cannot buy two Clan Slots. You can have up to two cats per Clan at a time, and one Outsider cat at a time. In total, you can have 7 characters at a time. This applies for system alters as well, who must buy their additional character slots.
Cats must abide by the appearance and naming guidelines of their Clan, and this includes NPCs in their backstory. This rule is enforced to create cohesive cultures and themes for the Cauldron. pancakes is the password. Cats from Beyond the Mountains similarly must fit into the general vibes of their Clan should they join one.
The following types of characters require a Ticket purchased from the shop to make: Half-Clan cats, cats with mutations (excepting heterochromia and polydactylism), cats from Beyond the Mountains, wild cat hybrids, orphaned (no heritage) kittens
Cats from Beyond the Mountains and Outsiders: To play a character that does not belong to a Clan, you will need an Outsider Slot from the shop, regardless of if they originated in a Clan or were from Beyond the Mountains. To play a cat from Beyond the Mountains who is already a member of a Clan / will be soon joining a Clan, you will need the Beyond the Mountains Ticket. Purebred cats come from Beyond the Mountains. You cannot use either the Slot or the Ticket to get around our mutation rules.
There are no repeats of prefixes for any active cats within the Cauldron but repeat suffixes are fine. This includes using an alternate name for the same animal. Ex: Using Crowned- from the crowned eagle when we already have a Crown- from the crowned eagle, or trying to use the scientific name for the crowned eagle. Compound names are also not allowed, such as “Sandstorm”, even though on their own, the prefix and suffix are valid. Family names also can’t be repeated unless of course the characters are related.
Characters cannot wear feathers behind their ears, wear skull masks, or have body paint.
Character designs need to follow a certain level of realism. Stylizing their designs in art is of course okay, but in their descriptions (roleplay and submission), they need to be described realistically. Make sure your cat's appearance is genetically possible.
A player may only have one High Rank character at a time.
High-ranking characters must be applied for. Each submission must be submitted in the high-rank submissions channel, with the character first approved in general character submissions. Your submission will be reviewed by the mods and we will contact you to notify if you are accepted or not. When applying, keep in mind that you will be responsible for keeping on top of activity checks because you run the risk of losing your high rank should you not check in. If you lose a high rank because of an activity check, you may reapply once you check in for two future checks.
To be eligible to have a litter of kittens, a character must have at least 10 completed threads with their partner.
The default max for a litter of kits is three (3). Two (2) additional litter slots may be purchased.
We do not endorse the trope of disabled cats having no option but to become healers (or in this case, Witches). Cats with this as part of their story will not be accepted. Of course, this does not mean disabled cats cannot become Witches! They simply cannot become Witches because of their disability forcing them into the role due to self-perception or the pressuring of others.
A player is allowed to call dibs on a prefix. HOWEVER, they can only ever have one dibbed at a time, a solid concept for the character the prefix belongs to must be had, and you have two weeks to submit the character’s bio before the prefix goes back up for grabs. Adoptables do not count as dibbed prefixes, and if a player cat gets approved with that adopt’s prefix, the adopt will need a new prefix.
