Over the years since the founding of the Cauldron Clans, universal rules have been implemented so as to keep the peace, guide morals, and provide structure. While punishments are handled differently in each Clan, these rules are upheld by all of them.

Code of Conduct
1.) Loyalty to your Clan comes above all else.
2.) Catch only what you need to eat. Do not hunt for sport.
3.) Your Clan must be fed before yourself. Leaders, deputies, and warriors eat last.
4.) To murder another is to taint your soul. Do not kill, unless as a last resort in self-defense.
5.) No cat may abandon or neglect a kit in need, regardless of if that kit is from their clan or not.
6.) The Matriarch is to be given the same respect and authority as the Deputy.
7.) A monarch need not disclose the sire of their kits to anyone but the Matriarch.
8.) Bloodlines are always to be kept track of.
9.) A cat will not be forced into retirement / the Elder’s den on the basis of disability. It is their choice to make.
10.) A Clan’s territory must never overlap with the Great Tree’s roots.
Ranking
1.) A kit must be at least six moons of age to be graduated to apprentice rank.
2.) A cat must have mentored at least one apprentice to warrior status to qualify for deputyship.
3.) A leader-to-be must go through their Clan’s Leadership Trial in order to qualify for leadership.
4.) A Witch must accompany their leader-to-be to the Scrying Pool and Leafhome to verify they have been approved by StarClan and have received their Nine Lives.
5.) A Clan may only ever have two graduated Witches and two Witch Apprentices at any given time.
6.) A Clan may not have two Deputies at any given time.
7.) A Leader may not retire from their position. A Leader may not be exiled, only executed, so that the next Leader may gain their full Nine Lives.
8.) If a Deputy steps down from their position upon the death of the previous Leader, the next Leader will be decided by the Clan’s majority vote. This decision must be made before the sun rises if night, or the sun falls if day.
9.) A new Leader must appoint their Deputy before the sun rises if night, or the sun falls if day.
Interclan Interaction
1.) Balance must be maintained between the Four Clans. Do not abandon your neighbors in times of need.
2.) Do not trespass nor steal from another Clan’s territory.
3.) Witches and their apprentices are never to be harmed, and are not to be turned away.
4.) An All-Clan Gathering is to be held every Full Moon at the Great Tree so long as Silverpelt’s eye is unobscured. Combat and magic are prohibited from the Gathering.
5.) A Witches’ Circle is to be held every Half-Moon at the Scrying Pool so long as Silverpelt’s eye is unobscured. A Witch may bring a Warrior escort, non-apprentice, to protect them should they feel the need. The Warrior is not permitted within the grounds of the Scrying Pool, unless there is an emergency.
6.) Regardless of allegiance, any cat is to be taken in and protected during the night Silverpelt closes her eye.
7.) Romance between cats of differing Clans is prohibited. Any resulting kits are innocent, and must not be punished for the mistakes of their parents.
8.) An attack is never to be launched on a Clan’s camp. Severe punishment must be given for tampering or destroying healing and magic supplies.
Magic
1.) Magic is never to be used to harm another cat or Clan. Magic is only ever to be used for protection and healing.
2.) Knowledge of magic is to be shared freely between Witches and their apprentices of all Clans.
3.) No animal from the Scrying Pool may be hunted or killed.
4.) Magic may not be used by non-Witches without a Witch’s explicit permission and supervision. A Witch apprentice can not give permission nor provide supervision.
5.) Names of Myth must not be frivolously invoked.
6.) Any cat found using magic of the Starving Dark is to be exiled or executed depending on the severity of their crimes, and a warning given to the other Clans of the criminal.
7.) A kitten cannot be named after a Myth, nor may a cat take that name for themself. To do so is to invoke misfortunate and is a display of ego.
8.) A cat must always turn away from the temptations of those Below the Roots.
9.) The fight against the Starving Dark is one all the Clans battle together.

The Matriarchs’ Code
1.) The lives of your dams and kittens comes before your own. Defend them to your last breath. Killing in defense of the nursery is never to be punished, nor is it a sin upon your soul.
2.) You are the confidante of the dams in your charge. What they reveal to you dies with you. Not even a Leader, Witch, or Exorcist may be permitted to draw their secrets from you.
3.) You may not bear kittens of your own blood, lest bias darken your heart. Avoid romance, so that you are not distracted from your duties.
4.) You are responsible for the bloodline purity of your Clan. Prevent bloodlines from becoming tangled. Newcomers to the Clan are to receive a family name all their own, and it must be approved by the Matriarchs.
5.) A Clan may only have four Matriarchs at a time, be they both graduated or mentor and apprentice. Secrets are no longer secrets if too many know them.
6.) Your duty is first and foremost to the dams and kittens of your own Clan. However, should it not harm your priorities, you must help any dam and/or kittens that need it.
7.) It is the duty of a Matriarch to help bring new life into the world, not a Witch. In the realms of pregnancy and birthing, Witches defer to the Matriarchs.
8.) You are a parent to all kittens within your Nursery. Even those Cursed.
