Tō mātou ruruku:

Karanga karanga ki a Ranginui e tū iho nei,

Karanga karanga ki a Papatūānuku e takoto ake nei,

Kia rarau ngā tapuwae ā tāngata,

He putanga ariki he putanga tauira,

Kia hora pai ai te ara kupu matua,

Nā Rongo,

Ka puta ki ngā hau tapu a Tāwhirimātea,

Ki te whai ao ki te ao mārama....

Te Whare Manaaki - Our Online Space

Is our cultural space.  We conduct whānau hui and learning within our whare. The whare, as the name suggests, is to nurture "manaakitanga." The whare is instantly recognisable within the school.

Te Ako Whai Pūtaketanga - developing agency

Te Ako Whai Pūtaketanga

We have been working hard to develop learner agency across the school. In Te Whare Manaaki we have been using our inquiry framework to support the tamariki with their development.

Te Toi Takitini - collaborative mural

"Toi Takitini" is the name given to our collaborative mural project at Carlton School. Toi Takitini is a term that describes the approach as collaborative and It involves the community, teachers, support workers and our learners.

We have different levels of contribution which begun as gathering voice from all stakeholders.

We are using our framework "He Kuranga Tukutuku" to guide our content and support our "cultural influences" within the framework across the school. We utilise our school wide inquiry process for the development of the project and the learning with our students.

Puanga Celebrations

Puanga was a great success and greatly supported by our whānau. It started early with a ruruku around our fire and continued on to some excellent activities for our tamariki.
