The competent teacher builds and maintains collaborative relationships to foster cognitive, linguistic, physical, and social and emotional development. This teacher works as a team member with professional colleagues, students, parents or guardians, and community members.
This artifact was from my weekly planning with my co-teachers for each specific area of learning. Each week I created an outline that scheduled our entire week and disucssed with my cooperating teacher. After we planned out the week the materials that were used were saved in a shared Google Drive.
Knowledge Indicator 8F of Teaching Standard 8 states that the competent teacher "collaborates with others in the use of data to design and implement effective school interventions that benefit all students." During my planning time I was able to really talk through each lesson and implement many of the schools expectations to help students learn further. During our planning time we also discussed how to best help all the students in the class and one including changing the layout of the room to better support student learning.
This artifact demonstrates clear understanding of collaborating with others and finding ways together to best support students in all areas. Through creating this artifact I have learned so much and new tools for my tool belt in upcoming years to better support my students. Having a relationship with others in your building is a big stepping stone to helping not just implement more in your classroom to help students but to also help yourself as the teacher and grow in many different ways.
This artifact was for when we needed to order science materials for an upcoming lesson. The science curriculum that the school had purchased comes with all the materials and the teachers just have to send in notes have the company ship items. I also informed our front office staff each time my college supervisor was coming for an observation and included all the details that were need to successfully send them to my room.
Knowledge Indicator 8J of Teaching Standard 8 states that the competent teacher "works with all school personnel (e.g., support staff, teacher, paraprofessionals) to develop learning climates for the school that encourage unity, support a sense of shared purpose, show trusts in one another, and value individuals." As a member of the front office staff at a small private school this is very large to have proper communication and good relationship with the staff to help further the learning in the steps outside of the classroom that need to be taken care of for the classroom. While working with her I really gained her trust and vice versa to continue on and still have a great learning climate as soon as the kids open the door even from coming in outside.
This artifact demonstrates clear understanding of working together with staff in the school building to build a better learning community. I have learned that working with the front office staff and helping them but also having them help you get things done for your classroom like orders or knowledge of people coming can really make their day lighter and help them continue in their best way to also encourage unity and support one another.
