We will maintain a mutual respect and inclusive environment to establish a space that is about learning and growth.
Based on your life history, there may be discomfort in some of the topics discussed. Your feelings are valid and your contributions to the discussion are valuable.
Use active listening that includes unconditional acceptance and unbiased reflection. Honor and respect everyone’s history, experience, and opinion. Devote your full attention, and be aware of body language. Do not be on your cell phone!
Facilitate dialogue versus discussion/debate. Actively listen and seek to understand others' viewpoints without an intent to respond or offer a defense. Seek opportunities for agreement and connection between differing perspectives. Inquire into others' assumptions that support their positions and remain equally open to receiving inquiries about their assumptions.
View the process as an opportunity to learn. Search for collective meaning among divergent viewpoints.
What is your "why" for being here?
We love to hate them- but they work! You have to be willing to step out of your comfort zone, and get goofy to work with kids!
All of our youth sports leagues and programs are driven by a clear set of core values. We are committed to providing a high-quality youth sports experience for our staff, volunteers, participants, parents, coaches and spectators.
We work on creating a learning environment that allows athletes to make mistakes, learn and grow. Ultimately, youth sports and our programs should help create future ethical leaders and positive contributors to our communities.
We provide structured, progressive lesson planning and coach training for every grade level in our program so that each child’s experience is valuable and consistent. We are committed to providing all kids with a strong, fundamental set of skills and strategies that will prepare them with the ability and confidence to pursue a sport competitively, or recreational, as they choose! We work on creating a learning environment that allows athletes to make mistakes, learn and grow.
Regardless of a child’s background or level of skill, there is a place for them here! We seek to remove barriers to participation, including talent barriers, financial barriers and/or social barriers. Everyone in our programs is appreciated for the unique traits and talents they bring to their team, and to our leagues. From our most skilled athletes, down to our beginners who are experiencing the game for the first time, we believe that our diversity makes us ALL better by providing opportunities to develop our skills as well as our leadership, compassion, and tolerance.
We want the sports experience to be so positive and encouraging, that every child will want to stay engaged in the sport/activity for life, regardless of whether they pursue it competitively or not. We reject the idea that sports are only worth playing if they can be played at a high level… we strive to develop physically literate kids who are compelled to play in their free time, and who are equipped to succeed at the competitive level if they choose, and who are inspired to teach and coach the next generation when their opportunity arrives.
