Instructional programs have a director on-site along with coaches as staff. They are typically 45 minutes to 90 minutes long. The director assigns staff to specific stations and will help lead the program. Sessions are usually stacked on top of each other, with different groups of kids each session (for example one session goes from 3-4p, another one from 4-5p, etc)
Some of our CARD Instructional Programs include:
ShortE Sports for ages 3-5
Little Athlete Sports for ages 5-7
CARD Sports Institutes (CSI's) for grades 2nd-8th

Instructional sports programs play a crucial role in athlete development, offering a unique environment that emphasizes learning and growth over competition. Here are some key benefits:
Skill Development: These programs focus on teaching fundamental skills and techniques, allowing athletes to build a strong foundation. This emphasis on learning the basics without the pressure of competition helps athletes improve their abilities in a more relaxed setting.
Confidence Building: A less competitive environment encourages athletes to take risks and try new things without the fear of failure. This can lead to increased self-confidence as they see their skills improve and receive positive reinforcement from coaches and peers.
Individualized Attention: With a focus on instruction rather than competition, coaches can provide more personalized feedback and guidance. This tailored approach helps athletes understand their strengths and areas for improvement, facilitating targeted growth.
Understanding the Game: Instructional programs often include teaching the rules, strategies, and nuances of the sport. This comprehensive understanding can enhance an athlete's overall game sense and IQ, making them more effective players in competitive settings.
Healthy Competition: While less intense than competitive leagues, instructional programs often include scrimmages or low-stakes games that allow athletes to apply what they've learned. This helps them practice sportsmanship, teamwork, and dealing with the dynamics of real-game situations.
Long-term Engagement: By fostering a love for the game and reducing burnout, these programs can encourage lifelong participation in sports. Athletes who start in a supportive, educational environment are more likely to continue playing and enjoying sports as they grow older.
Social and Emotional Benefits: Instructional programs promote a sense of community and camaraderie among participants. They provide opportunities for athletes to develop communication skills, make new friends, and learn the importance of cooperation and respect.
