The CA NGSS Statewide Rollout: Using the CA Framework to Implement NGSS
A two day professional learning series focused on building understanding and capacity for using the environment as an authentic, relevant, and engaging context to support students learning and CA NGSS Implementation.
The series includes :
An opening session introducing the CA Science Framework 2016.
A session designed to identify phenomena for each grade band TK-2, 3-5, 6-8 Discipline Specific, 6-8 Integrated, 9-12 Biology-Earth Science, and 9-12 Physics.
An immersive lesson session for each grade band TK-2, 3-5, 6-8 Discipline Specific, 6-8 Integrated, 9-12 Biology-Earth Science, and 9-12 Physics.
A dive into classroom assessment based on the lesson session for each grade band TK-2, 3-5, 6-8 Discipline Specific, 6-8 Integrated, 9-12 Biology-Earth Science, and 9-12 Physics.
A choice of sessions which includes connections to the framework chapters on Access and Equity, Designing Professional Learning, Elementary Connections, High School Course Models, and a review session to support those new to CA NGSS.
An administrator strand that allows site leaders to develop plans to implement and support CA NGSS instruction at their schools.
