Developed to support the implementation of the California Next Generation Science Standards (CA NGSS), the CA NGSS Collaborative was formed in 2015. The CA NGSS Collaborative is a joint effort of the California Department of Education, California Science Project, California Association of Science Educators, California County Superintendents, and the K-12 Alliance, WestEd.Â
Together the Collaborative develops and delivers the statewide CA NGSS Rollouts and Professional Learning Experiences. The first three of these rollouts allowed educators to get to know the CA NGSS in small steps and to provide a foundation for conversations about the shifts expected in science education in California. As educator needs and our understanding of CA NGSS have grown over the last decade, the CA NGSS Collaborative has continued to develop professional learning that supports implementation of CA NGSS in schools, provides materials for those leading workshops in their counties and sites, and grows the leadership skills of science educators across the state. To support the adoption of science instructional materials by districts, the Collaborative developed and released the California NGSS Toolkit for Instructional Material Evaluation (CA NGSS TIME).
All of the materials needed to lead the professional learning designed by the CA NGSS Collaborative are available on this site for CA science education leaders. Reach out to our program manager with questions about the materials or inquiries regarding support in your area.
