Making Science Assessment Meaningful in K-2

Explore formative assessment practices that inform instruction and support learners to expand meaningful opportunities to learn science. Participants will build a shared understanding of features of equitable NGSS assessment, analyze students' ideas using an asset-based lens, and identify ways assessments and assessment practices can support equitable teaching and learning.

Assessing in Multiple Dimensions in K-2

In this session, participants use a graphic organizer tool to analyze three assessments to determine whether they are 1, 2, or 3-dimensional. They then compare them, focusing on two non-negotiable aspects of the assessments: how they support equitable learning and how they support sense-making.
