Wind
Motivational Patterns
Calvin is asking his father figure questions because he is curious and wants to learn more about wind. This is something he finds interesting so asks about it, but then his dad dumbs down the question and tells him false information.
Why they occur
His parents lead him to believe he's too young to understand the truth, thus letting him go about his life believing things like wind is made from trees sneezing. He is a child and depends on his parents to learn and be an independent thinker, this is not possible with his parents lying to him.
Advice for Ms. wormwood
Ms. Wormwood should use this interaction as a learning opportunity on how not to foster self regulation and instead use Calvin's curiosity to her advantage.
