Why Does Calvin Have This Pattern?
Basically, Calvin doesn't know how to self-regulate because he has no good role models in his life, at home his parent doesn't help him complete homework but then demand to know why he's not doing good. At school, he is punished for not being the "typical learner" by his teacher and bullied by his peers.
People around him
Parents
Because he's younger, people around him are not helping him learn to regulate his learning
Not being good role models of self-regulation
Dad likes to reprimand him but never helps him to try and get things done or with any questions he might have
Mom scolds him for procrastinating but does not assist him with time management tasks
Hobbs
Hobbs encourages Calvin to be positive and really get down on his level
Peers
Gets bullied, making school a place
Teacher
Scolds him a lot for not being the "typical learner"
By sending him out of the classroom she is unintentionally reinforcing his dysregulation, Calvin gets to avoid the aversive stimulus (the classroom) when he exhibits dysregulated behavior.
Medication
When he takes his medication, Hobbs becomes a stuffed animal, and he's able to focus on his homework a lot more efficiently
Bus stop
Hoping for catastrophic event so he doesn't have to go to school anymore
Having to be forced into the bus
