What is music? 

Music is a bunch of sounds together that make melody, rhythm, and harmony

Different genres

There's tons of different types of music since everyone has a music taste that's unique to them!  Some of them include pop, country, R&B, and indie.

Songs

Songs can be used to help with stress and put you in a better mood! You can make different playlists based on how you're feeling. If you're feeling sad, make a playlist with all your favorite songs to help brighten your day. If you're feeling stressed, fill a playlist with songs that make you feel calm and peaceful to save for whenever you need it.

Dancing

Not only does dance help improve your mental health, they also improve your physical health! Dancing sharpens your mind and builds muscle. Dancing can be from Fortnite dances, ballet, break dancing, and cumbia! I am not the best at dancing, but I love to pretend to dance while listening to Selena Quintanilla and Celia Cruz!

Making (Composing) Songs

There are SO many different ways you can make your own music. One of my favorite ways is to just sing! Your voice is your own personal instrument, so use it ! Another way is to play an instrument, you can buy one, rent one from a store, or borrow one from a friend. You can also become part of the band at your school! Another way is to download music apps, they are so much fun! 

Here are some fun dance videos you can watch when you need to have something to do. With online school, it can be difficult to keep moving. These videos get you to move and they are so fun!

How can music help with sleep? 

If you are really anxious before you fall asleep, it can be really hard to go to sleep. For example, when I have a big test, the night before I get stressed out and can't sleep very well. But music can help with this! Music helps because it calms down your autonomic system. That sounds like a big word, but it really just means the parts of your body that respond without thinking, like breathing! So if you have a hard time going to sleep, play the video on the left and see if it helps!
