Sizes

Medium (20"), Large (22")

Ò 100 yards of bulky orange yarn (sample uses 2 balls Lana Grossa Easy)

Ò small amount of bulky green yarn

Ò US #10 needles

Ò US #10 double-pointed needles

Ò Tapestry needle

3 sts per inch in stockinette stitch.

To save time, check gauge.

Cast on 60 [66] stitches.

Work in knit 2, purl 2 rib for 7 inches.

Begin decreases:

* Knit 3 stitches, purl 1, purl 2 together, repeat from * to end of row.

Work 1 row in knit 2, purl 2 rib.

* Knit 3 stitches, purl 2 together, repeat from * to end of row.

Work 1 row in knit 2, purl 2 rib.

* Knit 2 stitches, knit 2 together, repeat from * to end of row.

Work 1 row in knit 2, purl 2 rib.

* Knit 1 stitch, knit 2 together, repeat from * to end of row.

Work 1 row in knit 2, purl 2 rib.

* Knit 2 together, repeat from * to end of row.

Purl entire row.

Change to green yarn.

* Knit 2 together, repeat from * to last stitch, knit 1.

Change to double pointed needles and work remaining 6 stitches as i-cord until the stem reaches the desired length.

Bind off i-cord and weave the ends in.

Sew up the back of the hat and weave in any loose ends.
