SPECIAL PROVISION UPDATE
June 29, 2026
Please be advised that placement agencies may have additional or more specific onboarding requirements beyond the Seneca Nanji Foundation School of Nursing Clinical Preparedness requirements.
These site-specific requirements may include additional health screenings, document validity periods, occupational health documentation, orientation or mandatory training, mask fit testing, or other agency-specific onboarding requirements.
Students will be informed of any special provisions once their placement has been confirmed. It is the students responsibility to complete all required documentation and onboarding activities by the deadlines set by the placement agency.
Please note: Seneca cannot waive or modify placement agency requirements. Failure to meet these requirements may result in a delay, reassignment, or inability to participate in your clinical placement.

FIRST AID PROGRAM UPDATES
June 22, 2026
The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) has updated its First Aid Program to improve the quality, consistency, and accessibility of workplace first aid training across Ontario.
Training now aligns with national standards under the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Z1210:24 for workplace first aid training.
More approved training providers are available across Ontario, making it easier to access workplace first aid courses. Look for the WSIB First Aid Program badge to identify approved providers.
Course names have changed:
Emergency First Aid → Basic First Aid
Standard First Aid → Intermediate First Aid
Greater flexibility for recertification:
Intermediate First Aid certificates can still be recertified once.
Recertification can now be completed with any WSIB-approved training provider.
Canada-wide certificate recognition continues:
Workplace first aid certificates issued anywhere in Canada will continue to be accepted, provided they meet the CSA Z1210 standard.
These certificates can now be recertified in Ontario before they expire.
No impact on existing certificates:
All workplace first aid certificates issued on or before June 21, 2026, will remain valid until their expiry date.
These updates help ensure workers across Ontario have access to high-quality training and are better prepared to respond during medical emergencies in the workplace.
