Model United Nations (MUN) is a diplomacy activity where students work together to solve global issues. Students practice English as they role-play as delegates of countries working together to produce written resolutions that detail how they will solve the problem being discussed. Students follow parliamentary procedure to form voting coalitions to pass their resolutions with a majority. Students who take part in MUN gain skills in research, reading, writing, negotiation, teamwork, diplomacy skills, critical thinking and much more.
In 2021-22 MUN groups will open throughout the country in Middle school and high school. Teachers will be trained to instruct and assess Model United Nations.
To sign up for an in-school MUN club please contact your regional inspector. Teachers who wish to participate in the program but have not taken the MUN course, need to register for one of the courses opening in the various districts. Information about the courses and about debate competitions will be given by the regional English inspectors.
